kindergarten orientation-Watertown City School District
By Location: Jefferson County The Watertown City School District is offering an opportunity for parents of next year's kindergarten
students to become acquainted with our kindergarten program. There will be kindergarten orientation
or Family Oriented Structured Preschool Activities (FOSPA) meetings for parents in each primary
building during the spring. At these meetings teachers and administrators will describe the
kindergarten program. Other staff members who offer support services will also be available to answer
questions.
We hope parents will take the time to attend these meetings so that parents and children will be
prepared for kindergarten registration. It is our hope that the kindergarten experience will be a very
positive one for children and that the orientation meetings will be an important step in that direction.
Kindergarten registration for children who are eligible to enter the Watertown Public Schools in
September has been scheduled. Parents are required to bring their children with them at registration .
time along with the children's birth certificates, immunization records and Social Security card.
Please be aware that kindergarten entrants must be five years old on or before December 1, 2008, and
must meet the immunization requirements of Polio (3 doses), Diphtheria and Tetanus (3 doses),
Hepatitis B (3 doses), Measles (2 doses, first dose given after the first birthday), Chicken Pox
(Varicella) (1 dose), German Measles (Rubella) (1 dose), and Mumps (1 dose).
Parents who wish to enroll a kindergartner should call the appropriate primary school. If you do not
know which school your child will attend please call central registration at 661-8338 to ascertain the
correct school. Appointment letters will mailed from each primary school to parents of eligible
children prior to registration.
