Betty I. Farr, 75, Carthage

Betty I. Farr, 75, of 20113 Strickland Road, died Friday, March 28, at Carthage Area Hospital, Carthage under the care of her family and friends. She had been ill with cancer.

Born March 24, 1933, in South Rutland, the daughter of Spencer and Belle Irene Worthman Feisthamel, she attended area schools.

Mrs. Farr worked for Crown Zeller Bach for 15-plus years.

A marriage to Clark Hall ended in divorce. She married Francis “Bud” Rancier. He died in 1983.

She married Donald D. Farr on Sept. 28, 1985, in Carthage. She was employed as a Home Health Aide for Jefferson County Public Health Nursing until she retired.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Carthage.

Mrs. Farr was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Carthage; she was a member of St. James Catholic Church Seniors “VIP” Club, and a member of the Seniors group at Brady Acres, Deferiet, and Copenhagen.

Surviving are her husband, Donald D. Farr, Carthage; a daughter and her husband, Diane and Paul Smith, Carthage; two step-daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Steven Crosbie, Brownville, and Lynn and Jerry Pickens, Las Vegas; and two step-sons and their wives, Terry and Debbie Rancier, Stormville, and Donald and Carrie Farr, Lowville.

Two brothers, James Hall and Francis Feisthamel, and two sisters, Shirley Simmons and Edna St. Louis, all died before her.

Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home Inc. 500 State St., Carthage.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Linda J. Harris officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in Carthage.
