Man Airlifted To Hospital After Motorcycle Strikes Tree

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department said a 21 year old man suffered head injuries early Monday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a tree.

It happened at approximately 12:20 p.m. on private property behind a home at 12466 School Street in the town of Rodman.

Deputies said Dee H. Smith of 15095 County Route 84 in Adams was driving a 1987 Yamaha motorcycle in a field when he lost control and slammed into a tree.

Officials said he was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.

Smith was taken by ambulance to the Adams Town Highway Department, where a state police helicopter was waiting.

The chopper airlifted the man to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

Officials said Smith is a friend of a School Street neighbor; he did not live at the School Street residence where the accident occurred.

Charges are pending further investigation.
