Nelson V. Martin Sr., 71, Fine

Nelson V. Martin Sr., age 71, of Fine, NY, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at his home.

Nelson was born on January 30, 1937 in Ogdensburg, NY to the late Vincent J. and Cecelia (Gladle) Martin. He attended Ogdensburg Catholic School.

Nelson married Mary V. Cooper on November 22, 1958 at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Star Lake with Rev. Farmer officiating.

He worked as a boiler maintenance operator for the Ogdensburg City St. Joseph Orphanage where he was the 2^nd Superintendent then worked for J&L Steel before working for the New York State Ranger School in Wanakeena where he worked for 20 years retiring on October 8, 1980.

He was a member of the Star Lake Senior Citizens and Star Lake Neighborhood Center past president and vice president.

He is predeceased by a brother, Donald Martin.

Surviving besides his wife of Fine is a son Nelson V. Martin Jr. of Oswegatchie; three daughters and two sons-in-law Ethel M. and Karl Pryce of Star Lake, Cindy L. and Edwards Drake of Star Lake and Sharon L. Pratt and her companion Joe Boula of Star Lake; a brother Gerald Martin of Palmalo, NY; two sisters Patricia Burwell of Ogdensburg and Mildred B. Martin of Ogdensburg and eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 2-6 with the funeral service immediately following at 6:00pm at French Funeral Home, Edwards. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Fine. A luncheon will follow the funeral service at the Edwards Fire Hall.
