BookFest Saturday, May 10

What do you get when you combine Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George, Super Why!, local children’s book authors, and over 35 organizations from around the area? You get the Ready Set Fun! BookFest Saturday, May 10th from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Watertown Municipal Ice Arena! Admission is FREE with a canned good donation.

Get set for a fun-filled family event! Reading has never been so exciting! Kids will meet Clifford the Big Red Dog and Curious George, and Super Why! All children receive one FREE BOOK, and can participate in the Great Used Book Swap! Children can also get their books signed by local authors, Hope Marston, Irene Uttendorfsky and Justin & Gary Van Riper.

The event also features an eclectic array of activities - children can greet the

K-9 police dog ‘EMA’, make a craft with the daily newspaper, put together macaroni necklaces, try out the obstacle course , play with and bring home some play dough, catch the reading bug, meet some Watertown Wizards baseball players, plus meet creatures from the Zoo.

There are activities for parents and adults as well – 911 information, how to keep mom and baby healthy, the Summer Food Service program, and adults can purchase books at the Scholastic 2 for 1 Book Sale!

Other participating organizations include the Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired, DPAO, Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site, Vision Center II, Watertown Head Start, CAPC Nutrition, YMCA SACC, NYS Zoo at Thompson Park, Families and Communities Together with Schools (FACTS), Watertown Daily Times, North Country Prenatal/Perinatal Council, North Country Children’s Clinic, Benchmark Family Services,Jeff-Lewis Childcare Project, Bright Beginnings Early Learning Center of the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center, Sci-Tech Center of Northern NY, Steps to Healthier NY, Literacy of Northern NY, Jefferson-Lewis Teacher Center, Jefferson County 911, Jefferson County Dog Shelter, Jefferson Community College Early Childhood Club, JCC Future Educator’s of Tomorrow and the Flower Memorial Library.
