Helena H. Pratte, 83, Naples, FL. and Alexandria Bay
Helena H. Pratte, 83 of Naples, Fla., died Saturday, April 26, at the Avow Hospice, Naples.
Born May 23, 1924, in Wilmington, Del., she was the daughter of the late Otto and Helen Doberstein Helbing,
she was educated in Wilmington, Del.
She married Raymond Pratte on Nov. 20, 1954. The couple moved to Alexandria Bay in 1972. Mr. Pratte was an associated with Anchor Motor Freight, Wellesley Island, an automobile transportation company. He died Sept. 2, 1983, and Mrs. Pratte moved to Fort Meyers, Fla., with her mother in February 1983.
She worked as an executive secretary for Dupont prior to her marriage to Mr. Pratte.
Mrs. Pratte was a wonderful housewife and mother who served her family with dignity, honor and grace.
She proudly served in the USO as an entertainer through both music and dance and was very involved with her church, participating in various activities. Her hobbies included playing the organ, and being an accomplished seamstress.
She was a loving mother, grand mother, great grand mother and mother in law, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia Pratte and Adrienne and Clinton Doane, all of Naples, Fla., and Mary Anne and Gerard McGreevy, Albany; a son, Raymond Pratte, Naples, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Steven Oliver, Michael and Daniel Zemanek and Grant Rice and Rebecca Slapp; three great grandchildren, Gracianna Smith, Sandra Slapp and Erica Slapp; and her nieces, Sandra Yaude and Linda Swanson, and their families.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 29, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Fort Meyers, Fla.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31, Wellesley Island at the family plot at Riverside Cemetery with Rev. James Shaud, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Redwood, officiating.
Local arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., 38422 Route 37, Theresa.
