Catherine A. Jumps, 82, Smyrna, DE and Dexter
Catherine A. “Kitty” Jumps, age 82 of Smyrna, Deleware passed away Tuesday May 6th at Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital in Smyrna.
Catherine was born October 15, 1925 in Elmira, N.Y. the daughter of John and Florence Fawdrey Pearson. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Elmira and worked as a registered nurse at House of Good Samaritan Hospital in Watertown before taking over the family business of Jump’s Drug Store in Dexter.
“Kitty” enjoyed golfing, bowling, and traveling and in later years reading and gardening. Following retirement she moved from Dexter to Delaware to live with her daughter, Linda L. Tezak of Smyrna.
She is survived by her daughter and five grandchildren, Jennifer Beard, Joseph Tezak II and John Tezak, Kevin Jumps and Daniel Jumps; and three great grandchildren Nathan, Cole and Brady. She was predeceased by her husband Richard M. Jumps on May 5th, 1970; a son Richard J. Jumps on March 4th, 2001 and a brother John Pearson.
Memorial services will be held Thursday May 15th at 11:00a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, Delaware. A graveside service will be held at a time and date to be announced at Dexter Cemetery. Local arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
