Video: 14 Graduate From Police Academy


police.jpgFourteen new law enforcement officers are now on patrol in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.

They graduated from the Black River/St. Lawrence Valley Police Academy during a ceremony Friday at the Dulles State Office Building in Watertown.

There are now two new deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, four new deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, and eight new officers with the Watertown Police Department.

This year the academy started early to help accommodate the Watertown Police Department which is losing eight officers to retirement in August.

The goal was to get the new officers trained and ready to go on patrol alone by the end of summer.

The new law enforcement officers are now in the middle of field training where the ride along with other officers.

The graduates are:

  • Elizabeth Lewis, Watertown Police Department
  • Jacob Bull, Watertown Police Department
  • Charles Bickel III, Watertown Police Department
  • Christopher Aher, Watertown Police Department
  • George Cummings, Watertown Police Department
  • Gregory Gibbs, Watertown Police Department
  • Aaron Orsini, Watertown Police Department
  • Joseph Giaquinto, Watertown Police Department
  • Michael Schryver, Jefferson Co. Sheriff’s Department
  • James Randall, Jefferson Co. Sheriff’s Department
  • Jamie Taylor, Jefferson Co. Sheriff’s Department
  • Shawn Bulger, Jefferson Co. Sheriff’s Department
  • Raymond Ortlieb III, Lewis Co. Sheriff’s Department
  • Brett Croneiser, Lewis Co. Sheriff’s Department
