Clarence A. Manzer, 83, Lowville


Funeral services for Clarence A. Manzer, 83, will be 10:30 AM Wednesday May 14 at the Adirondack Funeral Home, Croghan with the Rev. Bruce Chapman, retired Methodist minister officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Brantingham Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday May 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home. Lewis County Memorial Post 6912 Veteran’s of Foreign Wars will hold a service at 7:00 PM . Mr. Manzer died Saturday May 10 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, Lowville.

 

In place of flowers, donations may be made to Lewis County Memorial Post 6912 Veteran’s of Foreign Wars.

 

Mr. Manzer was born January 12, 1925 in Gloversville to Archibald and Lula Manzer. He attended rural area schools.  He served in the US Army Air Corps. during World War 2. He was employed as a truck driver for Climax Mfg in Castorland for many years. He married Dorothy Hall Herman August 29, 1987 in Scriba, NY. She died  January 22, 2005. A previous marriage ended in divorce.

 

He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of Lewis County Memorial Post 6912 Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, Lowville.

 

He is survived by three sons, Doug, Farmington; Darrel, Rochester; and Scott, Camden; three daughters, Bonnie Dening, Marilyn VanZandt, and Marcia Kenealy, all of Lowville; and Gail Price, Charleston, SC.  He also is survived by four stepchildren, Lorry Sutton, Rochester; Bonnie Knapp, Augusta Georgia; Michael Herman, Woodbridge, VA; and Patrick Herman, Lakeland, FL. He is also survived by a brother and two sisters, Lowell Manzer, Lowville; Doris Ecker, Johnstown; and Betty Gorzcyca, Lowville. He has 24 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren.

 

He is predeceased by a daughter Charlene in 1991, a son Joel in 1975; a granddaughter Tiffany VanZandt, in 1989; a daughter-in-law Lorna Manzer in 2005 and two sisters Noreen Crane and Carol Manzer
