Hazel L. Butts, 87, Carthage
Hazel L. Butts, 87, formerly of West End Ave and Long Falls Apartments, died Saturday morning, May 10, 2008, in the Carthage Area Hospital where she has resided in the Skilled Nursing Unit since February together with her sister, Helen.
Mrs. Butts was born in Horseheads, NY on August 26, 1920, the daughter of the late Louis Francis and Jennie Mae Robinson Butts.
She attended school in Horseheads.
She was a domestic, cleaning for Dr. John Eckelman for many years and the Carthage Savings and Loan.
She also worked for several families in the Carthage area.
Together with her sister, they resided on West End Avenue for many years.
She was a member of St. James Church, Carthage.
She leaves, two sisters: Helen Butts of Carthage and Mrs. Laverne (Katherine) Wandell of Elmira, NY, 2 nieces, Sheila Dutton of Carthage and Mary Wandell of Buffalo and 2 nephews, William Dutton of Deferiet and Vern Wandell of Detroit, MI. She is predeceased by a sister, Mary Dutton and a brother, Louis C. Butts.
Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, 518 State St. with the Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor of St. James Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery, Carthage.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
