That’s why the Watertown Local Development Corporation is once again offering low interest loans to small, privately owned businesses that have been affected.

“This isn’t meant to be a cure all for the business, but it’s meant to try to support maybe a drop in cash flow that they may realize because..their businesses may not be as accessible as they would like it with the construction,” said WLDC Executive Director Don Rutherford.

The WLDC, also known as the Watertown Trust, will give businesses a low interest loan of up to $10,000 to help merchants make ends meet.

The Trust has setting aside $100,000 to loan downtown businesses hit hard by the construction.

Some shops aren’t easily accessible while crews work to renovate the square.

The Trust offered a similar program to downtown businesses last year.
