The Fort Drum Softball Team is one of the best in the area, winning its share of tournaments.

However, one player, Joe Rivers, has reached iconic local status by hitting a softball distances not seen in the area.

Rivers says he can consistently hit softballs 450 feet or more.

Also, the Watertown Wizards split a doubleheader in Little Falls, winning the first game 8 to 7, but losing the nightcap 3 to 2.

The Wizards face Glens Falls tonight at 7.
