The price of gas has hit another all-time high.

The average price of gasoline in the Watertown area is $4.25 a gallon according to Newyorkgasprices.com.

That is higher than the national average of $4.10 a gallon for regular gasoline.

The high prices are hitting people hard in the North Country whether they are traveling by land or by sea this weekend.

People say they just can’t afford to drive long distances and many are opting to simply head to the beach for the day.

There are also a lot of people camping at local state parks.

Meanwhile boaters are staying off the water.

In Alexandria Bay people say there were less people than previous years at Friday night’s fireworks display.

Gas prices at local marinas are also much higher. It was $4.55 a gallon at one marina on the St. Lawrence River.

A lot of people are also simply docking their boat instead of sailing around.

They say its not quite the same but at least they are enjoying the nice weather and being near the water.
