North Country Native Is A Real ‘Macho Man’

We’ve all done the dance and likely know the lyrics to the iconic 1970’s disco hit YMCA.
The group that made the song famous, the Village People, is still going strong.
One of the members of the group is a north country native.
Eric Anzalone is the ‘biker’.
He went to Black River Elementary, Carthage Middle and Case Junior High schools.
Eric was in the north country this past week for a family reunion.
A longtime rock musician, he landed the job with the Village People in 1995 after answering an ad in The Village Voice.
He replaced the original biker and says after 14 years he never gets tired of it.
“I can’t say I ever envisioned being in the Village People although I remember doing the YMCA, you know, dancing around in living rooms and at parties thinking what a great song it was. It’s just as fun now to do it even though I get paid for it,” said Eric.
He and the rest of the Village People will be performing next in Atlantic City.
Then it’s to the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year, where the group will receive their own star!
