There are so many ways to enjoy your weekend, it was difficult to choose what to highlight. Before warned it will be difficult for you to choose as well.

FESTIVALS:

images2.jpg FIRST THERE IS THE FRENCH - It is rumored that tens of thousands of people will descend upon the quaint village of Cape Vincent this weekend. The Cape is just far enough off the main path to hold its charm as a sleepy River Town. Often overshadowed by its downriver cousins, Clayton and Alexandria Bay, the cape offers fantastic views, narrow streets, fabulous sunsets and historical significance. This weekend it is host to the French Festival, one of the premiere Northern New York festivals, still going strong after forty years.

On Saturday the Festival kicks off with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11am. The opening ceremonies at 11am will include the crowning of the French Festival Queen. More than 200 crafters will be selling their wares on the streets and the green starting at 10 am Saturday and running through Sunday afternoon. The parade, which is one of the longest and largest in the North Country begins at 2pm. Where else can you see Napoeon ride his horse down the street in 2008? Lots of food and fun, for more information call the Cape Vincent Chamber of Commerce at 654-2481, or log onto Cape Vincent, NY

THE BUSKERS RENDEZVOUS

Just across the river (and Wolfe Island) is the great Canadian city of Kingston. This weekend it is host to the twentieth annual Buskers Rendezvous. This unique street festival is where performers from across the US and Canada converge hawking their amazing buskers07-09.jpgtalents with shows like Anti-Gravity Toronto and Xtreme Theatre and The Pogo Dudes, who we featured on our Live on Arcade Street early Friday morning. Here is the link to our story.

There is a lot more information available at Kingston Buskers including information about venues, streets blocked off, parking, admission fees and special show times. The Buskers make their living by donations from audience members, in the tradition of street performers from centuries long ago, so please bring cash to tip them. I have never been to the Buskers but plan on going this year. Log on Monday for pictures!
