Albertie D. Hill, 87, Edwards

Albertie D. Hill, age 87, of Edwards, died under the care of Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley on July 12, 2008 at the Canton United Helpers Nursing Home.

Mr. Hill was born on November 11, 1920 in Russell, a son of the late Harold and Florence (Shaw) Hill. Albertie went to school in Pyrites and was in the first class attending Knox Memorial High School.

He married Marjory H. Clark at her parents’ home in North Russell on December 11, 1938. The couple lived in Russell until moving to Edwards in 1970.

Mrs. Hill died on April 26, 2001.

Albertie was a former farmer on the Russell-Pyrites Road before working for the Newton Falls Paper Mill. He retired from the paper mill as stockroom clerk in 1982, but continued working as a self employed gravel contractor and propane delivery businessman.

Mr. Hill was a hardworking man who enjoyed hunting and watching deer on his time off.

His survivors include a daughter and her husband, Marsha H. and Wheeler Maynard – Russell, two sons and a daughter-in-law; Edmund S. and Margaret Hill – Leesburg, FL and William C. Hill – Edwards, and a brother and sister-in-law; Malcolm and Laura Hill – Edwards. Albertie is also survived by 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Albertie is predeceased by a son, Maxwell A. Hill, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Maynard, a sister, Marie Lee, and three brothers; Clours, Ralph, and Junior Hill.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday at French Funeral Home, Edwards. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15th at the funeral home with Rev. William G. Hart officiating. Burial will be in the North Russell Cemetery.
