A former standout Quebec Senior Lacrosse player is jailed without bail and facing robbery charges in connection with the Daniel Simonds homicide.
Officials say 27 year old Kaientanoron “Nolo” Swamp of 1422 Route 37 in Hogansburg turned himself in to authorities Monday night.
Investigators said more arrests are expected.
Swamp, who played junior lacrosse with the former Valleyfield Warriors, faces a felony first-degree robbery charge in connection with the May 13 attempted robbery and shooting death of Daniel Simonds at his Porter Lynch Road home in Stockholm.
“Anytime you’re able to make an arrest in a case like this it’s a positive step,” said St. Lawrence County District Attorney Nicole Duve.
Swamp was allegedly among a group of men who beat and then shot Simonds once before fleeing the scene.
“The investigation is moving forward in a positive direction and we expect that at some point there will be additional arrests,” said St. Lawrence County Sheriff Kevin Wells.
Simonds later died at a Vermont hospital.
27 year old Brian Latulipe remains in federal custody in Syracuse - charged with a Hobbs Act robbery in connection with the Simonds homicide.
