Fire Damages Apartment Building, 9 People Evacuated

firefigher.jpgNine people were forced to flee their homes Wednesday morning after fire broke out in their apartment building.

The blaze was reported shortly before 7 a.m. at 272 East Orvis Street in Massena.

Officials said the fire started in the apartment of Arnold and Cathy Caskinette.

In all, nine people in two apartments were evacuated.

The fire damaged was described as “minor”.

The property is owned by Thomas Basmajian of 278 East Orvis Street in Massena.
