Dorothy M. Gadbaw Steria, 87, Beaver Falls

Dorothy M. Gadbaw Steria, 87, died early Thursday morning, July 17, at her on the Devines Road while under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Croghan Mennonite Church with Rev. John Martin, pastor, Chad Atwood, and Julius Moser, emeritus, officiating. Burial will follow in the Croghan Mennonite Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 18, at the Croghan Mennonite Church. Arrangements are with the Sundquist Funeral Home.

She was born May 24, 1921, in West Carthage, a daughter of George and Mabel Coyer Gadbaw.

She married Ernest W. Steria on May 10, 1941, at the United Christian Church in West Carthage, with Rev. Frederick M. Hominghouse, officiating. Together the couple owned and operated a dairy farm on the Kirschnerville Road in Croghan for 34 years, retiring in 1979. Mr. Steria died January 10, 2005.

Mrs. Steria was a member of the Croghan Mennonite Church.

She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and writing poetry.

Surviving are eight daughters and six sons-in-law. Verna and Carl Schack, Betty and Ceyril Bush, Bessie and Charles Chartrand, and Dorothy and Lyle Moser all of Croghan, Jane and Clyde Widrick and Diane Steria all of Castorland, Gloria Zehr, Ohio, and Cindy and Edward Leaf, Camden; a brother, Donald Gadbaw; three sisters, Viola Myers, Frances Gebo and Ida Mono, all of Natural Bridge; 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

A son-in-law, Earl Zehr, three brothers, William, Harold and George Gadbaw. and two sisters: Pearl Woodside and Ruth Hill, all died before her.
