The case of a New York City man accused of torching an apartment house in Watertown will go to trial this summer.
A trial date was set for August 4 for 30 year old Carlos Rivera, who’s charged with arson and assault in the December fire that destroyed a huge apartment building on Academy Street.
Rivera had until Tuesday to accept a deal with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office.
Apparently, the deal was rejected.
Rivera’s attorney says his client wants to go to trial.
“I feel confident. I think that we have a good case. It’s what my client has wanted from the beginning,” said attorney Eric Swartz.
