The kids have been spending the week going places most zoo visitors are not allowed.

They’re doing jobs only zoo keepers can do.

On Wednesday, the children fed fruit kabobs to the zoo’s elk.

It’s part of a week-long summer camp for kids.

They’re learning first-hand how zoo animals live, eat and move around.

“I’ve always wanted to work with animals and be a zoo keeper so I’ve had a lot of fun,” said camper Rachel Fish.

The youngsters say they can’t wait for what they get to do next.

A new group will begin next week.

The camp runs for another two weeks.
