Skating Through Summer

skating.jpgIt may be warm and humid outside but a group of talented figure skaters is getting some valuable summer ice time on the inside in Potsdam.

16 year old Shannon Flanagan of Canton is among the young skaters perfecting their skills during the summer skating program at Clarkson University’s Cheel Arena.

The talented skaters are spending hours on the ice preparing for United State Figure Skating Association sanctioned tests and competitions.

“I have a big competition in the middle of August in Chautauqua and then I have another one in Boston so I have to keep training to get ready for those,” said Flanagan.

Figure skating instructors say stamina and gracefulness are key ingredients for an ice skater’s success.
