A Fort Drum soldier is going to prison for 18 months for driving his vehicle into a crowd of people in Watertown.
Fort Drum confirms that 23-year-old Kristopher Hendricks was sentenced following a two-day court martial.
According to the Army, Hendricks said he had too much to drink and was having problems starting his car.
When the car finally started, he had his foot on the gas and the car lunged forward.
The incident happened about 2 a.m. on March 15th where a group of people had just left the Strand Music Theater on Goodale Street.
Hendricks was traveling the wrong way on the street when he drove into the pedestrians, injuring seven of them.
