State Disciplines Lowville Doctor

A well known doctor in Lowville has admitted to being negligent on more than one occasion.

That’s according to the New York State Board for Professional Medical Conduct, which says Dr. Josefina Tan-Domingo has agreed to be monitored by another doctor and to get more medical education.

Dr. Tan-Domingo is an obstetrician and gynecologist.

The state says she failed to order tests to rule out cancer after a biopsy in 2002, didn’t explain to the patient what was going on and then started treatment without ruling out cancer.

Dr. Tan-Domingo is on probation for five years.

7 News contacted the doctor for comment.

She said the action was part of an out-of-court settlement.

“This has nothing to do with my care,” she said.
