New DVD Releases This Week

lost-boys.jpgThere is one original straight-to-DVD movie out this week: Lost Boys: The Tribe. This sequel to the 1988 vampire cult hit The Lost Boys deals with a new resident of Luna Bay looking to destroy the hoodlum vampire gang after his sister falls and starts her transformation.  Of course, The Vampire-Hunting Coreys are back to help!  What else do Corey Haim and Corey Feldman have to do these days?  For Stargate Sci-Fi fans, the latest straight to DVD Stargate Movie, Stargate:Continuum, is also released today.

Theatrical releases out this week include the Scorsese Rolling Stones Documentary Shine a Light, and the stoner sequel Harold & Kumar Escape to Guantanamo Bay.

For children, the latest Wiggles DVD: You Make Me Feel Like Dancing is also out.

For special box sets, there’s the 25th Anniversary Edition of War Games, with a young Matthew Broderick as a computer hacker who unwittingly initiates a global confrontation when he hacks into the Defense Department’s computer system.  It seemed really far fetched back in 1983.

For TV collections, there’s “The Hills-The Complete Third Season”, “Law & Order: SVU-The Seventh Year”, “Beverly Hills 90210 - The Fifth Season”, and Centennial, the 1978 mini-series with an all star cast including Raymond Burr, Richard Chamberlain (Was there any miniseries he wasn’t in?), Andy Griffith, David Janssen, Gregory Harrison, and other TV stars of the 60’s & 70’s.
