Gerald E. Mahoney, 86, Martinsburg

Gerald E. Mahoney, 86, West Road, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 1, at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville.

A funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Constableville with Rev. Lawrence Marullo, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Lowville Rural Cemetery.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.

He was born on April 28, 1922, in the town of Martinsburg, a son of John E. and Clara E. Brenon Mahoney, he was a 1940 graduate of Lowville Free Academy.

Mr. Mahoney worked on the family farm on West Road for his parents and served in the Army during WWII. In 1966, he and his brother took over the operation of the family farm, retiring in 1987.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Constableville.

Mr. Mahoney enjoyed traveling to Italy, Ireland and throughout the United States and visiting with family and friends.

Surviving are a nephew and his wife, Patrick A. and Lyn Mahoney of Glenfield; two nieces, Bethany and her husband Thomas Franko of Chatham, NJ and Rosemary Mahoney of Oswego; a great-nephew with who he lived, Jason P. Mahoney of West Martinsburg; a great-niece and her husband, Sarah and Jason Stevens of Marcy, NY and cousins.

A brother and sister-in-law, Aloysious E. and Elizabeth L. Mahoney, died before him.
