Margaret May Fowler, 82, Oswegatchie

Margaret May Fowler, 82, of Oswegatchie, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Golden Living Wedgemere in Taunton, Mass.

She was born in Natural Bridge on August 17, 1926 to the late Joseph and Mary C. (McDonald) Savage. She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1944.

Margaret married Earl F. Fowler on April 21, 1946 in the manse of the First Presbyterian Church in Gouverneur with Rev. Joseph A. Schofield Jr. officiating. Earl passed away on July 26, 1994.

Margaret worked at several retail stores including the WT Grant Store and JJ Newbury’s in Gouverneur as well as the Red and White Grocery Store in Newton Falls. She spent her time reading, enjoying music and continued to solve business problems.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Frederick and Vicki Fowler of Saratoga and Massachusetts; an adopted daughter Nancy Bickford of Oswegatchie; two sisters Florence Roy of Hermon and Mary Savage of Hermon; and four grandsons and two granddaughters.

Calling hours will be from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, August 22nd and the funeral will be at 11:00am at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Saturday, August 23rd . Burial will follow at Hermon Cemetery in Hermon, NY.
