Bail Set At $50K For Accused Slasher

A 20 year old Massena man is being held on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond after allegedly slashing the back of his girlfriend during an argument.

Adam Gauthier is charged with with second-degree assault after allegedly cutting Brandee Arquiett inside an apartment house at 61 Bishop Avenue.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning.

Arquiett received multiple cuts, including an 8-inch laceration on her back.

She was treated and released from Massena Memorial Hospital.

In a statement to police, Arquiett said, “I am afraid Adam will kill me. He has talked about killing someone before and getting away with it because he can fake being crazy.”
