Update: Victim Identified In Suspicious Fire, Death Ruled Homicide

Update: Officials have released the identity of the person who died in an early morning house fire Wednesday on the St. Regis Mohawk Reservation.
The victim is identified as 44 year old Thomas Hathaway, the homeowner.
According to David Staddon, director of public information for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, investigators have ruled the death a homicide.
He said an autopsy was performed, but a cause of death was not determined.
Staddon said toxicology tests could take a few weeks to complete.
The fire is being labeled suspicious.
However, officials have not released the cause of the blaze.
Corporal Alex Jock of the Mohawk Tribal Police was on patrol when he noticed flames coming from the house on Helena North Road in Hogansburg at about 3 a.m.
He notified firefighters.
The home was destroyed.
