Independent Don Lucas Off the Assembly Seat Ticket

Print This Page Print This Page

Independent Candidate for the 118th State Assembly Seat Don Lucas has been removed from the ballot, according to the Board of Election Commission and Lucas himself.

Lucas had more than the necessary 1,500 signatures necessary to be on the ballot for the November election, however he says he was kicked off due to a technicality.

His acceptance letter was not notarized and the election commission has given him the option to take his case to a supreme court judge.

However, that involves legal fees and Lucas is unsure if he will be able to continue his campaign with that added burden.

The other candidates, Democrat Addie Jenne Russell and Republican Bobby Cantwell both expressed regret that Lucas would not be on the ticket.

as an Independence party member I feel that this is a slap in the face to the people of this party. We don’t have the luxury of having a committee of people to make sure every “t” is crossed and ever “i” dotted. Maybe its time that the New York State Independence Party starts making some noise.
