Lisa Parker Going To Prison In Connection With Deaths Of Her 3 Children

There were plenty of harsh words for the woman who fled police officers in 2007 and caused the crash that killed her three children.

Lisa Parker was sentenced Monday in Jefferson County Court to one to three years in prison.

She was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution.

“It’s been a hell that nobody can ever make better,” Parker told the court prior to sentencing.

In July, the Weedsport woman pleaded guilty to three counts of manslaughter, but did not admit she was responsible for the crash.

Parker was able to use an Alford plea because she says she does not remember the events that caused the death of her children.

That meant she could plead to avoid a trial and potentially harsher consequences, but not admit she did anything wrong.

“I can’t say I did something I don’t remember,” Parker said during the sentencing proceeding.

Parker’s attorney Peter Juliano said in July that his client suffers from psychological problems and that a panic attack may have caused the fatal crash in June 2007.

Police say Parker was headed west on Route 12-E when a sheriff’s deputy pulled her over for driving erratically.

She drove off before the deputy got out of his car, led him on a chase and crashed into a utility pole in Three Mile Bay.

The impact split the car in half and killed her three children, 2 year old Mary Provo, 6 year old Nathanael Parker and 10 year old Tyler Parker.

Deborah Parker, grandmother of the two boys, spoke in court during the sentencing proceeding.

“She never put her children first,” she said.

She described Lisa Parker as a woman who never took responsibility for anything.

“How dare she put my grandsons’ lives in that kind of danger…She has flung my family into a nightmare we can’t awaken from,” said Deborah Parker.

Juliano said Monday his client was diagnosed as having bipolar disorder.

He unsuccessfully argued that Lisa Parker should not have to go to prison.
