<br />Reverend John Jordan has preached and prayed in the North Country for the last 24 years.

He founded the City of Refuge Church in Great Bend and now nearly two decades later he’s stepping down from his pulpit to move back to his hometown.

Rev. Jordan says it’s time to go back to his hometown in north carolina but that the North Country will always stay with him.

Rev. Jordan gave what was likely his last sermon on Sunday morning but with high spirits throughout the congregation.

He says his congregation has been like a family to him.

“They are genuinely concerned about each other, praying for each other, contacting each other,” said. Rev. Jordan.

And those in his congregation say the church and their pastor has changed their lives.

“He took me under his wings and he taught me how to be a Christian and now to be involved with the community,” said Abel Vega.

“When I’m out with Pastor Jordan somewhere, I feel like I’m with a celebrity from Hollywood or something because he has touched so many lives here in the North Country,” said Robin Moore.

Over the years, Pastor Jordan has been involved in the community and says his work is far from over. He says he’ll continue to make visits to the North Country even after he moves.
