Viola B. Soniat, 75, Watertown

Viola B. Soniat, 75, of 23219 Diane Dr., died Monday October 6, at Carthage Area Hospital.

She was born December 3, 1932 in Texas, the daughter of Lewis J. and Viola Williamson Jackson, she attended local schools.

Mrs. Soniat was a homemaker. She married James R. Brown and Robert L. Soniat. Both marriages ended in divorce.

She moved to the Watertown Area in 1999 to be near her daughter.

Mrs. Soniat was a longtime member of the family support group for the 548th Combat Support Group, Fort Drum, amongst many of these soldiers she was known as “Grannie”.

Surviving are four daughters and three sons in law, Bessie and Jim Stanislaus, The Woodlands, TX, Carol and Edmon Tipton, Groveton, TX, Deborah and Alan Vivyan, Watertown and Glaythan Trauth, Houston, TX; a brother and a sister in law, Harry(Chuck) and Mary Kay Jackson, Crockett, TX; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A son, James R. Brown Jr. and a brother Lewis Jackson Jr. died before her.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 Thursday October 9 at the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, with burial following at Oakwood cemetery, Theresa.

Calling hours will be from 12-2 Thursday before the Funeral.
