Richard J. Call, 72, Watertown

Richard J. Call, 72, 714 Elm St., died Saturday morning at the Samaritan Medical Center, where he had been a patient since July.

Born in Great Bend, on April 28, 1936, the son of James and Lillian Wadsworth Call.

He was employed by the New Jersey National Guard from 1954 to 1977 as a heavy equipment operator and later as a supervisor.

He also worked for Borello Trucking and Frink Snowplow for several years, as well as PW Trucking from 1987 to 1999.

He was most currently a contractor who supplied automobile transportation and delivery service for Caskinette-Lofink Ford in Carthage.

A marriage to Gloria Ingerson ended in divorce.

He married Nancy Clark Koniz on November 25, 1978.

He was a member of the American Legion a former member of the Great Bend Fire Department and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, at home and his children and their spouses, Mrs. Kenneth (Julie) Hodgdon, Connecticut, Scott R. & Paula Call, Watertown and Jeffrey & Paula Call, Bloomfield, Iowa, his stepchildren and their spouses, Lance & Mary Koniz, Carthage and Derek & Donna Koniz, Watertown, a sister, Mary Gokey, Herrings and 8 grandchildren, Matthew, Benjamin, Chadd, Allison, Bailey Jo and Cameron Call and Kyle and Megan Hodgdon.

A private funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, with burial to take place in Sunnyside Cemetery, Great Bend.

There will be no public calling hours.
